New adventures with Mademoiselle Oiseau for Rörstrand
2012-08-10
Rörstrand has always sought to find forms of collaboration with the most interesting designers of the moment. Now Rörstrand is launching new decorative designs on its porcelain to follow the continuing adventures of Lovisa Burfitt’s and Anna Lerinder’s Mademoiselle Oiseau.
This Rörstrand collection tells the story of the eccentric Mademoiselle Oiseau, as sketched by the restless pen strokes of Lovisa Burfitt on the thinnest of bone china. The physical form and lines of the items in the collection are the work of the widely acclaimed, prize-winning designer, Anna Lerinder, except for the trinket box, which has been designed by Pia Törnell.
Now Lovisa Burfitt brings us a new episode in the eventful life of Mademoiselle Oiseau. The setting is Paris on a Monday evening. It’s the only time in the week when it’s possible to get everyone to sit still in the apartment on the Rue Montorgueil. Dice are thrown, pieces are moved back and forth across the checkers board, and kings and jacks are played – all with the same passion and intensity. Not even the discovery that someone has eaten up every single one of the evening’s delectable prizes can cause Mademoiselle Oiseau to drop her well-practised poker face.

The story behind this new episode is elegantly portrayed in the decorative design on the mug and brand new side plate, both with forms designed by Anna Lerinder. The new pattern has been specially created to be used with other items already released in the series – a mug, side plate and espresso cup.
The new Mademoiselle Oiseau designs will be on sale in stores from 3 September
